Creative title, eh?
Ah, well, cut me a little slack. We’ve just moved! YES! We’re in the new house… that’s 110 years old… The move was amazing. Life since the move has been amazing. I am beginning to realize that amazing is exhausting, but so wonderful that I wouldn’t trade these experiences for anything! I pray that I won’t ever take what we have here for granted, and that I will somehow be able to teach succeeding generations to be amazed as well, even though they haven’t lived through the antithesis as we have. It’s been a glorious adventure thus far, and I fully expect it to continue that way. I don’t think I could possibly convey the beauty, the wonder of what we’ve been experiencing these past couple of weeks. No, having absolutely no internet is not part of the excitement of it all, but that’s really very minor. Right now anyway. I may change my mind on that part when I finally have time to study again. For now however, we’re surviving alright without it.
Anyway, since I’m positive I am incapable of writing about the gloriousness of our recent experiences, I’ll just post a few pictures. Hopefully quickly, since I’ve dragged Mama and Luke into Borders for the sole purpose of finding high-speed internet. 😛
Well, here it is. Our 1900s house with a rather large walnut tree in the middle of the front yard. The large walnut tree is surrounded by several smaller walnut trees. We have a lot of walnuts. A LOT. Granddaddy’s picking some of them up in this picture. That task is almost as daunting as the task of unpacking and settling in!
The most important room in the house: the kitchen. Claire is our cook/laundress while the rest of us work to unpack and organize, so she’s the only one who knows how the appliances work.
Another important room: the laundry room. It’s smaller than the one we had in Viola, but we have one! It’s truly amazing.
The master bedroom. This one serves as a continual reminder to me about how perfect this house is for us. It’s a little thing, but Mama was going to paint whatever room they got blue. Well, the room they got was already blue! Trivial, I know, but it’s just one of those things that makes you remember how great our God is in giving us even the smallest of our desires.
Time to go upstairs (I didn’t get a picture of the living room because it was, and still is to some extent, being rearranged.). These are extremely narrow stairs, or they seem like it to me. We has some excellent help from some totally awesome people who carried big, little, light, and heavy things up these stairs.
This is the sight that would have met your eyes at the top of the stairs yesterday. I think the boys may have cleaned it up a little since then. Maybe. You know the tornadic weather we had around here the other day? Mama, Claire, and I are positive the tornado touched down in the boys’ room
Girls’ room. We haven’t unpacked much yet because, as you can sort of see in the picture, the room is purple. It won’t be staying purple much longer, I hope. We have paint, I believe; it’s just a matter of finding time now.
Most of my key chains are still packed, but I did find these. At least the things I collect are relatively small.
Okay, last picture of the girls’ room. This is Imelda… or maybe Jephery. I can’t decide. It won’t be staying long either.
Off our room there is an unfinished room which will eventually be turned into a sewing room/closet. Off this room is an area which is in the middle of being turned into a 12’x12′ (or so) attic area where we’ll store seasonal clothes or something. That hole there is the opening to said storage area.
Old houses are interesting. In that storage area Daddy and Kyle pulled out a couple of bed frames, 3 large trunks, a quilt stand (maybe?), several pictures and picture frames, an old saddle, and all sorts of other stuff. I think the neatest things they pulled out of there were the old letters from 1945. Very neat.
Here’s Brutus, our large, goofy, sweet dog which we inherited in the move. He’s a mastiff. I wanted to rename him Fezzik, but he’s about a year old and already knows his name pretty well.
This is the small house (we’re really not very creative with names.). It was all tarped up because, at the time I took the picture, the previous owners/occupiers weren’t quite out yet, and a lot of our stuff to go in that house was on the front porch.
This is right across from the small house, and is called, at various times, the barn, shed, or garage. It’s also full.
A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped us during the move, and for everyone who prayed for us along the way. Everything was really appreciated! Also many, many thanks to those who have fixed meals and snacks for us throughout the time!
Well, that’s all I’ve got for now. It hasn’t taken me too long. Until whenever I am able to get internet next… So long!
