I praise God and thank y’all! I passed this test with a B! This one was a tough test, and I’m really glad I did this one after the Middle East and Soviet Union DSSTs, but it was a doable test.
The test is divided fairly evenly in 3 categories: case studies, theories: competing views, and contemporary sources of conflicts. For me, I think the hardest part was the theories. My previous tests prepared me pretty well for the contemporary conflicts (Vietnam, Middle East, and the Cold War all played somewhat major parts in that section of the test.). The case studies I found to be… I don’t know, kind of self-explanatory, I guess; percentage-wise, I scored highest in that area.
The questions were worse than normal DSST questions! Terribly phrased, and obviously wanting you to fail. (That’s what it seemed like to me, anyway.)
I used the Complete Idiot’s Guide to World Conflicts and War, Peace, and International Politics books to study, and for the past week I’ve done a ton of Wikipedia-ing. Oh, I also studied the outline and sample questions that Excelsior sends you when you register for the test. I put together a 5-page study help yesterday and the day before, but I wouldn’t say it was nearly adequate to even base your study off. It might help though, and that’s all I wanted it for.
Again, thanks for all y’alls prayers; I really appreciate everything!
I ONLY HAVE ONE COURSE, 6-SEMESTER HOURS, BEFORE I’M D-O-N-E !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! assuming TESC accepts everything like I think they should.

I am so very proud of you! You are totally amazing! I am looking forward to the graduation celebration. For this you need to be thinking of “special” gifts. I don’t remember that we celebrated your graduation from high school.

Hi! Thanks for the Modern Middle East notes—they helped me pass with 65!! 😀 Would you mind sending me a copy of the 5-page World Conflicts study help you mentioned? Thanks so much! 🙂

Thanks so much for the notes…they’re great for reminding you of the important stuff! I have a couple questions:
1. Did you feel the Idiot’s Guide prepared you well as far as knowledge of the conflicts?
2. Are there a lot of questions on the test about those obscure wars in those little Middle-Eastern and African countries?
Thank you!!!

Honestly, I don’t really remember what was specifically on the test, or what material that I used was the most helpful. I remember being glad I studied as much as I did, but I tended to over-study. And, as I mentioned in the post, I was very glad I took this one near the end because so much of what I had studied previously showed up in or applied to this test. You can check the IC forum specific exam feedback thread for this test – I may have included a few more details there. I can no longer access that, and I’m afraid I just don’t remember. I wish I could be more help! God bless your studies!
